Albert Beaujard, célébre cambrioleur, amateur d'art et de femmes, vient de subtiliser un tableau de grande valeur au musée d'Orsay. Recherché par toutes les polices de France. Il choisit de se cacher dans un appartement bourgeois situé en face du musée. Lucien et Odette Poiseau ne s'attendaient pas à recevoir la visite d'un malfaiteur aussi surprenant qui va se mêler de leur vie de couple... Fin observateur, il va tenter d'enseigner à Lucien comment retrouver le respect et l'amour d'une femme possessive et autoritaire. Les choses vont cependant prendre une tournure inattendue quand l'élève va donner une leçon au maître...

The film
Martine visits a Russian fortune teller famed for her uncanny predictions. The reading takes an unexpected turn when the psychic reveals the name and address of her soulmate: Victor Barkat ! Immediately, Martine calls him just as he's about to commit suicide over a crushing debt. She rushes to his home and reveals the psychic’s prediction. But Victor wants nothing to do with this overly enthusiastic stranger, who soon turns his life into a nightmare. Desperate, he finally confesses the truth: he owes the mafia $300,000, and the psychic who predicted their meeting is none other than his own mother!
The author adapted the stage comedy "La femme est le meilleur ami de l'homme" into a feature-length screenplay, preserving its spirit while fully embracing the possibilities of cinema. Expanding the story beyond the stage, the screenplay opens up the world, introducing a host of colorful characters who enrich the narrative.
